With ten minutes left, Adaam says exactly what was on my mind at that moment! Thomas Sowell’s A Conflict of Visions and how the New Right/Trump’s “I alone can fix it” being of a piece with the unconstrained vision (which characterizes the progressive left) rather than the constrained vision (of the conservative right).

I agree. I recently argued in an essay for a friend’s Substack that if the right ceases to operate out of a constrained worldview it ceases to be a meaningful alternative to the progressive left - instead it will offer merely separate collectivist, unconstrained platform which emphasizes national sovereignty rather than social justice.
